FAQ's
We only need to see your hair growth at your consultation to make the best plan specific to you. After this you can continue to shave as much as needed for you between sessions. It’s important to clean shave the day before each laser session. You must stop all other forms of hair removal since they can remove the follicle, the laser needs the follicle to target the melanin inside it and kill the surrounding germ cells.
Laser light are selectively absorbed by melanin, the dark pigment which surrounds the hair follicle and disables the follicle. Our laser machines use the optimal wavelength to deliver ultra-high definition energy ensuring the best results.
You will need a minimum of 6 sessions on the body and 8-10 on the face. After this you may return for smaller quicker sessions if any dormant follicles come back through, but this is likely to be minimal.
Laser can only treat hairs that are in the growing phase or visible on the skin surface, as a result multiple treatments are required to treat all hairs for permanent reduction.
The Ultra Diode uses unique cool tip technology which cools the skin during treatment making the treatment very pleasant. Its normal to feel slight warmth and or tingling towards the end of treatment but it is not painful at all.
The difference between the two treatments is that IPL uses a broad spectrum of high intensity light, which is emitted at multiple wavelengths. Laser hair removal emits a single focussed and precise wavelength, which is optimised for maximum follicle absorption making it much more effective for permanently removing unwanted hair.
Yes, it will! Laser hair removal will target all growing hairs – this is usually up to 30% of the area at any one session, this is why multiple sessions are required. Once you’ve completed a course you will have a permanent result. You may require small additional top up appointments as there can be follicles that lie dormant or can be sparked by hormones, but this is likely to be minimal.
Treatments are usually between 4-8 weeks apart. Hair on and around the face grows faster and therefore treatments are usually closer together. On the body 6-8 weeks is optimum but we treat each person and area individually assessing and adjusting as we move through the treatment plan to get achieve the best results. The more treatments you have the less hair growth you’ll have.
It is important not to tan the skin on areas being treated. Active melanin in the skin from recent tanning or sunbed use could cause the skin to burn. Fake tan will leave unnatural pigment on the skin which can also cause the skin to burn. It’s important to be at least 2 weeks post sun exposure before your appointment.
Laser Hair Removal works by targeting the pigment (colour) in the hair. If there is little to no pigment in the hair, we cannot guarantee a result. You should be wary of any Laser Hair Removal companies who claim that laser works on hair without pigment. If you’re not sure it’s best to come in and see us for a consultation.
No, Laser Hair Removal services are not considered safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding. You may return for your Laser treatments once you have finished breastfeeding your baby.
